Chris is a dedicated Power Engineering Technology graduate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, who is currently expanding his knowledge by pursuing a degree in Energy Engineering. 

​

He has a strong academic background foundation in engineering principles and practices. In addition to his studies, Chris has practical experience utilizing Job Data Management System (JDMS) and SAP for effective maintenance planning, showcasing his ability to integrate technology into engineering processes. also possesses valuable experience with Symmetry software, which he has used for designing industrial facilities. 

 

A hardworking, reliable, and-oriented team player, Chris deeply values collaboration, believing that the best are achieved through teamwork. His commitment to excellence is evident in his previous internships reputable companies such as Gibson Energy and Vale Base Metals, where he gained hands-on experience honed his skills in a professional setting. Chris is excited to continue his in the energy sector, where he aims to contribute to innovative solutions and sustainable practices.

Monica Ansah-Sam, MESc., MBA, P.Eng

Investor

Monica brings over twenty-five years of combined engineering experience in mining geotechnics, dam safety, tailings and mine waste management, closure and landform design, and field operations. She has held technical leadership roles for more than twenty years, serving as Engineer of Record, Tailings and Closure Lead, Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Senior Tailings Advisor, Project Technical Lead, and Operations Support Lead across consulting, oil sands and hard rock mining industries across Canada. She also served as General Manager of Tailings and Dams in hard rock mining in Ontario, Manitoba, and Newfoundland and Labrador, and most recently, in Global Geotechnical Governance for Vale’s Base Metals operations in Brazil, Indonesia, and Canada.

She has extensive international and local experience shaping the strategic direction of global companies in tailings management, including developing and implementing new strategies in this critical field. An analytical thinker, collaborator, and team player.

Monica is skilled in stakeholder engagement, building successful relationships with communities of interest and regulators.​

Monica has also contributed significantly to industry organizations. She served as Chair and member of various COSIA (now part of the Pathways Alliance) working groups, representing companies as a tailings technical expert. She was a member of the Mining Association of Canada’s tailings working group, contributing to the Tailings Management Guide, Risk Management and Engineer of Record subgroups.​

As an accomplished author, Monica has published numerous technical papers on tailings management and enterprise risk in the mining industry. She also has experience in corporate governance, currently serving as a director on a medical board and as Director-at-Large for a non-profit organization.

Monica has also contributed significantly to industry organizations.
